In
1990, the Government of Malta created a service agency - the Management
Systems Unit Ltd. (MSU) - to provide consultancy services aimed
at improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the various business
functions of government. This unit was a multi-disciplinary group,
providing consultancy in the areas of General Management, Financial
Management and Information Technology.
In
1996 Government decided to separate MSU's
management consultancy and information technology operations. The
former was integrated within the Office of the Prime Minister and was constituted as the Management Efficiency Unit (MEU).
The
services of the Management Efficiency Unit are focused on the
Maltese Public Service and, it is within this context that the mission of
the unit is to
Facilitate the Improvement of Government Services.
MEU's
current area of expertise is the management of change. It
undertakes projects concerning both the, development of policy and its
implementation, which delineation is clearly reflected in its Organisation
Structure.
Through
the application of its Operating
Principles, MEU strives to provide its Clients
with a quality service that can significantly improve their operations and create long lasting
value for their customers.
